GATE 2027 Registration: Apply By October 5 Without Late Fee, Check Exam Dates And Details
IIT Madras will close the GATE 2027 registration window without a late fee on October 5. Candidates who miss the deadline can apply with a late fee until October 12.

The GATE 2027 registration process is nearing its deadline, with the regular application window closing on October 5, 2026. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), which is organising the examination, has extended the deadline from the earlier date of September 27. Candidates who have not submitted their forms yet can apply through the official GATE 2027 website.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is used for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes at IITs, IISc and other participating institutes. GATE scores are also used by several organisations for recruitment to technical positions.
GATE 2027 Registration Last Date And Late Fee
Candidates can submit the GATE 2027 application without a late fee until October 5. Those who miss the regular deadline will get another opportunity to apply with a late fee until October 12, 2026. The application correction window is scheduled from October 14 to October 21.
IIT Madras has advised candidates not to wait until the last day to complete their applications. Indian candidates also need to use DigiLocker for the GATE 2027 registration process. The official website has advised applicants not to delete the DigiLocker account used for registration after submitting the form.

GATE 2027 Exam Dates
IIT Madras will conduct the GATE 2027 examination on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027. The exam will cover 30 test papers, including the newly introduced Robotics and Automation paper.
The GATE 2027 result is scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2027. The city allotment notification is expected on January 4, while the admit card download date is yet to be announced.
GATE 2027 Eligibility And Application Fee
Candidates currently studying in the third year or higher of an undergraduate degree programme, or those who have completed an approved degree, can appear for GATE 2027. There is no age limit for the examination.
For the regular application period, the fee is Rs 1,000 per paper for female, SC, ST and PwD candidates and Rs 2,000 per paper for other candidates. Candidates can select up to two papers from the permitted combinations.
