The Himachal Pradesh government has released Rs 35.34 crore to upgrade technical institutions across the state, including ITIs, polytechnics and engineering colleges.

The Himachal Pradesh government has released Rs 35.34 crore for upgrading technical education institutions across the state, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani said. The funding will be used to strengthen infrastructure and improve facilities at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnics and engineering colleges.

According to the minister, the initiative is aimed at improving learning and skill-development opportunities for students while providing institutions with better infrastructure. The government is also working on measures to promote start-ups and develop students’ soft skills.

Himachal Pradesh Technical Education: Where Will Rs 35.34 Crore Be Used?

A significant portion of the funds has been allocated to institutions in Kangra, Sirmaur, Una and Mandi districts.

In Kangra, Rs 3 crore has been released for ITI Baijnath, while Rs 1.75 crore has been allocated to Adarsh ITI Sansarpur-Terrace. The government has also released Rs 2.29 crore for accommodation at Government Pharmacy College, Kangra, Rs 3 crore for Academic Block-B at Government Polytechnic Kangra and Rs 3.50 crore for a new ITI building at Baldhar in Nagrota Bagwan.

In Sirmaur district, ITI Sarahan will receive Rs 3.71 crore, while Rs 5.83 crore has been allocated to ITI Kafota and Rs 3.42 crore to ITI Kaulawala Bhood.

The funding also includes Rs 3.58 crore for the boys’ hostel at Government Polytechnic Kullu, Rs 3.26 crore for ITI Bhadrakali in Una and Rs 2 crore for the ITI building at Karsog in Mandi district.

ITIs, Polytechnics To Get Modern Infrastructure

The funding is expected to support construction and improvement of academic buildings, hostels and other basic facilities at technical institutions. The state government has said the broader focus is on creating a better learning environment and strengthening technical and vocational education.

The Himachal Pradesh Department of Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training lists strengthening infrastructure and improving standards at technical education institutions among its key objectives.

Students To Get Exposure Through Educational Visits

Dharmani also said students from technical institutions in Himachal Pradesh are being given exposure to developments in technology through educational visits. Students have been taken to Kazakhstan and Japan as part of such initiatives, according to the minister.

The minister said the government is also working towards developing a stronger start-up ecosystem and students’ soft skills, alongside infrastructure upgrades.

The latest funding is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education and prepare students for emerging opportunities in the sector.
