Jamia Millia Islamia has extended the last dates for the admission for the students from Jammu and Kashmir to the university. This decision has been made due to the communication gap which occurred in the state following the revoking of Article 370 by the parliament. Students from the state can now apply for admissions to the university until October 10, 2019.
According to a letter written by the university to the resident commissioner Jammu and Kashmir, the VC of the university is pleased to extend the admission dates for the students from Jammu and Kashmir who could not report on time to complete the admission formalities. The students from the state can now submit the applications to the office of the resident commissioner, Jammu, and Kashmir until October 10, 2019.
The letter also stated that a number of students had approached the university authorities for the admissions. As per the students they have applied and appeared in the entrance examinations but could not see the results due to which they could not report in time to complete the admission procedure. The governor of Jammu and Kashmir has also directed that such cases of students be taken into consideration to redress their grievances.
The university in the letter also stated that it is appropriate for the office of the resident commissioner Jammu and Kashmir to as the Nodal office to collect a;; the applications of the students who were in the merit list but could not complete the admission procedure due to the communication problems in the state occurring after August 5, 2019.
The university had earlier set the date for contacting the resident commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir to October 1, 2019, but then extended the same to October 10, 2019.
As per the officials of the university, the resident commissioner will submit the list of students who were shortlisted for the admission following which a committee will check their names with the records and grant admission accordingly. The officials have stated that the names of the students will be tallied with the names which were shortlisted on the basis of the entrance examinations and those students who are shortlisted will be contacted for the admission procedure.
