Delhi-NCR News: Greater Noida to Get a New Railway Station with 12 Platforms, Over 100 Trains: Check Timeline, Project Details

Greater Noida is set to get a major railway terminal at Bodaki, a project aimed at bolstering long-distance rail connectivity for passengers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and the wider Delhi-NCR region. The planned terminal is part of a larger multimodal transport hub that will integrate railway, metro, bus and road connectivity.

Why Greater Noida Needs a Railway Terminal

Presently, passengers from Greater Noida and adjoining parts of Gautam Buddha Nagar often travel to Delhi or Ghaziabad to board long-distance trains. The proposed Bodaki terminal is targeted to offer direct rail access to several major destinations, lowering the need for passengers to make additional journeys to existing Delhi-area railway stations.

The terminal is being developed near the present Bodaki railway station, around 3 km from the Greater Noida Authority. The broader multimodal transport hub is planned as a large integrated facility, with the railway component spanning more than 46 hectares.

12 Platforms and Over 100 Trains

The proposed Greater Noida Terminal is planned with 12 platforms and 63 yards, including loop lines. The facility is slated to handle and maintain more than 100 trains a day, including express services and premium trains such as Vande Bharat and Rajdhani services.

The terminal's location on the Delhi-Howrah railway line is significant for passengers travelling towards eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and the Northeast.

Potential destinations accessible through services from Bodaki include Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur. Connections towards Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Dhanbad, Ranchi, Asansol, Howrah and Kolkata are also slated to benefit from the terminal's development.

Metro Connectivity to Bodaki

Rail passengers will also be able to use the metro network to reach the terminal. A planned 2.6-km metro extension is slated to connect Bodaki with the Noida Metro Aqua Line through two stations — Janapada and Bodaki. This will offer an additional public transport link for passengers from Greater Noida.

Namo Bharat, Bus and Road Links

Bodaki is also planned to become part of the proposed Ghaziabad-Greater Noida-Jewar Namo Bharat corridor. The 72-km corridor is developed to connect Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and Noida International Airport in Jewar.

An interstate bus terminal of about 12.5 acres is also planned within the transport hub. Road connectivity is proposed through links to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, NH-34, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway.

Greater Noida’s New Railway Timeline

The project has been given special railway project status to facilitate land acquisition and related procedures. According to the Detailed Project Report and NCR Master Plan, construction is slated to be completed within three years.
