NEET SS Counselling 2025: Supreme Court Orders Special Stray Vacancy Round After Percentile Reduction to 30th
The NBEMS will conduct a special stray vacancy round for admission to NEET SS 2025, following a court order by the apex court. The stray vacancy round will be held after reduction of percentile from the existing 50th percentile to 30th percentile.
In a latest notification released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), it has been concluded that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will conduct a special stray vacancy round for admission to NEET SS 2025. The notification dated today, September 25, 2026, the round of counseling will be held after reduction of percentile from the existing 50th percentile to 30th percentile, with compliance to the order dated 17th Sept., 2026 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in W.P (Civil) No. 771 of 2026 Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association & Anr Vs. Union of India & Ors.

NEET SS Counselling 2025: Important Notes
In view of above, participating candidates are advised to note the following points:
- The Special Stray Vacancy Round of SS Counselling 2025 is being conducted for D.M/ M.Ch/ DNB SS seats (left vacant subsequent to Round-2 of counselling) and after reduction of percentile.
- The Special Stray Vacancy Round is a Non-Upgradation Round. Candidates who were not allotted any seats in previous rounds and candidates who have become eligible after reduction of percentile will be able to participate.
- The in-service vacant seats of Tamil Nadu, are expected to be reverted by the state counselling authority of Tamil Nadu on September 28, 2026. Once received, the in- service seats will be added in the seat matrix of All India SS Counselling 2025.

MCC Releases NEET SS Stray Vacancy Clear Seat Matrix
Additionally, the MCC has released the clear vacancy seat matrix for the NEET SS Counselling 2025 today, September 25, 2026. The seat matrix has been released on the official website of the Committee at mcc.nic.in.
