An outstanding boxer from Algeria, Imane Khelif has performed on the world stage in 2 straight Olympics: the Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics. She showed her professional skills and love of athleticism in the second round of the women's welterweight event at the Paris Olympics 2024 as she knocked out Angela Carini of Italy in 46 seconds after Carini could no longer stand due to intense pain in her nose. Khelif will meet Luca Hámori of Hungary in the quarter-finals on 3 August.

Who Is Imane Khelif?
Imane Khelif, 25, from Tiaret in Algeria is a UNICEF ambassador. Although her father did not once approve of women's boxing, Khelif was determined to leave something for future generations by winning the gold medal at the world's highest level.

Her journey in professional boxing began with the 2018 World Championships; that year she finished 17th. Khelif then turned that 17th-place finish around in the 2019 example when she crossed line 19th to reach the top seven or better once more.
Khelif's efforts were finally rewarded when in the 2021 Olympic Games held in Tokyo she was out after just reaching the quarterfinals. She was defeated by La Belle Boxeuse, Ireland's Kellie Harrington. She later secured her silver medal at the women's world boxing championships with a loss to Amy Broadhurst. Khelif's subsequent triumphs include 3 gold medals in the 2022 African Championships, Mediterranean Games and 2023 Arab Games which have solidified her place as one of the rising stars of world boxing.
