Oracle Layoff 2026: What Was In The '6 AM Email'? Thousands Hit By Job Cuts; India To Face The Next Wave

New day, new layoff story from Oracle. The unfortunate job cuts happening around the world have increased the number of people looking for a job. The tech giant, Oracle, has a bad name. It has been laying off people consistently in the name of restructuring.

Oracle recently took a major step, leaving employees across several teams without jobs. Although it was already in the air that Oracle is again going to send a 6 AM mail about layoffs, it started its layoff drive on 14th September, with affected workers discovering the news in a sudden and stressful way.

What happened in the Oracle layoff is, all the employees who are scheduled to lose their jobs lose access to official company systems. This happens even before the official announcement. It becomes a little chaotic and stressful for the employees.

This is the same way Oracle did layoffs earlier this year, same pattern. Such layoffs raise concern about job security among the other employees. As the company continues to spend big chunks on data centers and artificial intelligence, AI might actually take the jobs. The layoffs have also increased fears that more job cuts could soon reach Oracle's India operations.

What Is A ‘6AM Layoff Email’ In Oracle Layoffs?

All the affected employees got an email at 6 AM from the ‘Oracle Leadership’. This email was about informing them that their roles had been eliminated. All this under the pretext of broader organisational changes.

Oracle said that the decision was based on its current business needs. It also confirmed that the same day would be their last working day. In the email note, the company also thanked employees for their contributions. Eligible workers would also receive severance after completing the required paperwork.

Employees were also asked to provide a personal email address as access to Oracle systems would soon be disabled. They were reminded not to retain confidential company information.

Will The Oracle Layoff Affect India?

Oracle’s India Development Centre could definitely get crushed in the next wave, after the US round. According to many employees who have been a part of Oracle and other excerpts make a guess about big numbers. The estimated numbers could range from 3,000 to 4,000 Indian workers who could get affected.

While these are employees, there could be a cut in customer support, with 30% of jobs at risk. Oracle’s March layoffs also reportedly affected its India operations. In the earlier round, severance broadly followed an N+2 formula. On the other hand, the unvested restricted stock was forfeited after the employees left the company.
