The Summer of football continues with the men’s football event of the Paris Olympics 2024 starting on 24 July and the women’s from 25 July. Brazil and Canada won gold medals in the men's and women's football tournaments at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Football event will make its 29th appearance at the Olympics. The games played in the group stages can end in a draw while the knockout games will have penalties to decide the outcome.
The teams will be divided into groups of 16 with the top 2 of each group moving forward for the knockout stage(Quarter Finals).

The remaining fifteen teams were sorted into four pots based on their past performances over the last five Olympic games. Group A contained France in the top spot, as is customary for the host. The other three groups would each have four nations after the draw was completed. Pot 1 held the highest-ranked teams, with their positions to be determined by chance. From there, the draw sorted the remaining competitors into the other three groups in a way that balanced strength across all four sections.
