Tim Walz has been chosen as the running mate of Kamala Harris on August 6, 2024. Kamala Harris chose Tim Walz as the partner for her bid this time for the White House.
The man had been there on the shortlist with other Democratic figures. These were Pete Buttigieg, Roy Cooper, Josh Shapiro, Andy Beshear, and more. As far as Ms. Harris's journey is concerned, the lady aims to be the first female United States President. She has already been the first Black and South Asian Vice-President and the first female vice-president of the United States.
Who is Tim Walz?
A 60-year-old U.S. Army National Guard veteran was chosen from a Republican district in the United States House of Representatives in the year 2006. The man served for 12 years prior to getting chosen as the Governor of Minnesota in the year 2018.
Mr. Walz has brought about a progressive agenda. The agenda includes free school meals, and goals for dealing with issues such as climate change. He also proposed tax cuts for the middle class, and brought about paid leave for the workers of Minnesota.
Mr. Walz has been the top executive of the State. He mandated the use of face coverings in the times of COVID-19 pandemic.
The man has also been advocating for the reproductive rights for women. He, however, has also brought about a conservative bent while depicting a rural district in the United States House. He backed gun rights and defended agricultural interests.
Another important move by the man include signing a law to make marital rape illegal.
In the 2022 reelection campaign, Mr. Walz emphasized the support he received from many labor unions such as the Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, and more.
In the Governor's elections of 2022, Mr. Walz secured 52.27 percent.
Mr. Walz has also encouraged the Democratic Party orthodox positions on issues like same-sex marriage and legalized abortion. The man was also a strong defender of the support of the government for military veterans and farmers. He was also appreciated by the National Rifle Association.
