India suffered heartbreak in the both men’s and women’s singles finals of squash at the Asian Games 2026 on Sunday. Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh lost their respective gold-medal matches and had to settle for silver.
Both Indian players had produced brilliant performances in the semifinals, raising hopes of two top medals for India. However, things did not go their way in the finals. Abhay lost to Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow, while Anahat Singh lost to Sivasangari Subramaniam in the women’s singles final.
Men’s Single Squash Finals: Key Details
Abhay Singh started the men’s singles final against Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow with a close fight. The Indian kept the contest close in the opening set, but Ng Eain Yow eventually edged ahead in the final moments to take it 11-9.
After that, Ng Eain Yow took complete control of the match as Abhay struggled to find a breakthrough. The Malaysian continued to dominate the rallies and won the next two sets 11-5, 11-5.
In the third set, Abhay got off to a promising start and took a 5-3 lead, but he could not capitalise on the advantage. Yow then produced an 8-point streak, turning the game around and ending Abhay’s hopes of winning gold for India.

The story was quite similar in the women’s singles final as well, as Anahat Singh, who had impressed with a brilliant comeback in the semifinals, lost to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in three straight games.
Anahat started the final strongly and took an early lead in the opening game. However, Sivasangari quickly turned things around and dominated the remainder of the game to win it 11-4. The Malaysian continued in the same fashion in the second game, taking it by another 11-4 scoreline.
