Delhi state government has asked the school principals to upload the status of the number of vaccinated students and also inform the state education department about the same by 4 PM every day. The decision has been made in order to ensure that a large vaccination rollout is reported for the children protecting them from the different COVID variants.
Status updates to be given daily
According to the notification issued by the Directorate of Education, the heads of schools are required to daily upload the status of the vaccinated school students and inform the state education department of the same. Class teachers are also required to ensure that the parents are informed to take the children between the ages of 15 to 18 to the nearest vaccination site for their vaccination purposes.
The notification further states that if the school itself has been identified as a COVID vaccination centre, the parents can accompany the children during the vaccination and verification can be done immediately with the school authorities. If the school is not a vaccination centre but instead a temporary camp, the heads of schools are required to contact the district immunization officer so that a team can be sent from the school for verification.
The vaccination drive for children between the age of 15 to 18 began on January 3, 2022. Delhi has close to 169 vaccination centres and over 40 lakh students have been vaccinated on the first day itself.
Schools and educational institutions in Delhi have been closed due to the increase in the COVID and Omicron cases in the state. The dates for the reopening of the schools will be announced shortly.
