Puducherry Schools and Colleges Closed: In much needed relief for students, the Puducherry Schools and Colleges have been ordered to remain closed for the next fortnight in the wake of the COVID-19 spike. Media reports coming from the Puducherry have hinted that all schools and colleges in the Union Territory will remain closed for offline classes until 31st January 2022. Puducherry Education Minister A Namasviyam formally confirmed the extension in the period of closure for all educational institutions in the Union Territory as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
Distance Education Students to Get 1 More Year to Complete Course
With Colleges also closed for a major part of the last year due to COVID-19 pandemic, several students who were enrolled in Distance Education Programmes had to face challenges in terms of completing the necessary academic formalities. Many students who were affected by this had raised concerns about exhaustion of maximum period prescribed to complete the degree programmes. Taking to considering this, the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Pondicherry Central University has decide to give one more chance to the students to complete the degree programme.
The official communication released by Pondicherry University in this regards read “The students of MBA (from 2005-2006 to 2015-2016 calendar year) and the students of MCom and MA (English, Sociology and Hindi) and all other courses (from 2014-15 to 2015-2016) are granted one more chance to complete the course in the January 2022 session.”
