West Bengal School Holiday on July 6; Schools to Remain Shut Due to State Public Holiday

On the occasion of Dr. Shayama Prasad Mukherjee's 125th birth anniversary, the West Bengal government has announced a public holiday on July 6. The announcement came from the finance department of the state. Government offices, schools, and many public bodies across the state will remain closed.

Why is July 6 Important for West Bengal?

The government will be celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr. Shayam Prasad Mukherjee. This will be his 125 birthday. He was a prominent figure during India's partition. Along with this announcement, the state government of West Bengal also announced a half day holiday on July 1 for Doctor's Day. This is being celebrated to mark the birthday of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was the former Chief Minister of West Bengal and one of the reputed physicians in India.
