IBPS PO Prelims Cutoff Marks:- The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducted the IBPS Prelims exam 2026 for the Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) on August 22 and 23, 2026, across multiple shifts. IBPS PO is one of the most highly sought-after banking competitive exams in India, which enables aspirants to secure a prestigious officer role across participating public sector banks. All aspirants are advised to check the IBPS PO Prelims past-year cut-off marks to estimate the probable marks required to clear the exam. IBPS will release the official cut-off marks along with or shortly after the prelims results and scorecard are released. 

IBPS PO Prelims Cutoff 2026 

The IBPS PO Prelims cutoff marks are the minimum qualifying marks candidates should secure to be shortlisted for the Mains exam. Candidates will have to clear both the overall cutoff and the sectional cutoffs to qualify for the next stage. 

Candidates should note that there are two types of cut-offs in the IBPS PO recruitment process, which are as follows:-

• Sectional Cutoff:- It is the minimum marks that are required in each section of the exam (Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and English Language).
• Overall Cutoff:- It is the overall minimum score across all three sections of the exam that a candidate has to score to qualify for the next stage of the selection process. This cutoff mark varies depending on the candidate’s category (General, EWS, OBC, SC, and ST)

IBPS PO Prelims Past Year Cutoff Marks

The table below shows the overall IBPS PO Prelims Cutoff marks out of 100 marks over the previous years from 2019-2025 for the different categories of the candidates.

Analysing the previous years’ prelims cut-off will help candidates understand some key points and prepare for the upcoming cycles:-

• As per the table given above, since 2021, the qualifying cut-off marks for UR, OBC (NCL), and EWS categories have remained the same across all five years: 2025 with 49.21 across UR, OBC, and EWS; 2024 with 48.5 across UR, OBC, and EWS; 2023 with 54.25 across UR, OBC, and EWS; 2022 with 49.75 across UR, OBC, and EWS; 2021 with 50.5 across UR, OBC, and EWS.
• In 2019, all three categories shared the same high score of 59.75, and in 2020 only OBC (NCL) and General (UR) shared the same score of 58.75.  
• The highest SC category cutoff score of 53.50 was scored in 2019 and then dropped to 44.50 in 2021, before it stabilised in 2025. The gap between the General and SC cutoff averages ranges by approximately 4 points over the seven-year period.

Factors that Determine the IBPS PO Prelims Cutoff Marks

There are several key factors that influence the determination of the final cutoff marks every year, which are as follows:-

• The total number of applicants who appear for the exam. If there is a high volume of candidates who appear for the exam, the competition becomes difficult, which might make the cutoff higher.
• The difficulty level of the exam. The difficulty level of the questions across the multiple shifts is also an important determining factor. A difficult exam lowers the average score, which in turn leads to a lower cutoff.
• The total number of vacancies, which are announced by the official authority, also plays an important role. If there are fewer vacancies, the cutoff will be higher and vice versa.
• As the IBPS PO Prelims exam was conducted across multiple shifts, the IBPS will apply a normalization method to adjust the raw scores according to the relative difficulty level of each shift.
