Why was the Noida Airport Renamed?

The announcement followed a high-level Cabinet meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. Adityanath said the state Cabinet had taken the decision to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year journey in public service as a head of government.

Congratulating Modi, the Chief Minister described him as a popular public representative who continues to lead the country and serve as a Member of Parliament. He said India had strengthened its global identity under Modi’s leadership while preserving its civilisational heritage. Uttar Pradesh, he added, was entering a new phase in which heritage and development were progressing together. Adityanath also described the relationship between Modi and Uttar Pradesh as deeply personal.

He attributed the state’s development to coordination between the Centre and the state government, referring to the “Team India” spirit and the BJP’s “double-engine” governance model. He said the Uttar Pradesh Council of Ministers remained grateful to Modi for prioritising the state’s development.

Reflecting on the state’s governance since 2017, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh had previously faced administrative inefficiencies and a shortage of basic amenities. Drawing inspiration from Modi’s administrative experience and vision, he said, the state adopted a new approach to governance.

According to the Chief Minister, transparent, technology-driven administration, improved law and order, modern infrastructure and an investment-friendly environment had since become key features of Uttar Pradesh. He added that the state was pursuing broader development under Modi’s guidance.

Adityanath also highlighted welfare measures undertaken under the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, which aims to promote inclusive development. He said farmers had benefited from central government assistance, with more than ₹1 lakh crore transferred directly to the accounts of over three crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh under the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme.

On housing, he said more than 65 lakh poor families in the state had received homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He further stated that free food grains were being distributed under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana to approximately 15 crore beneficiaries belonging to 3.67 crore ration-card-holding families.

The Chief Minister presented these initiatives as evidence of the state’s development and welfare-oriented governance under the combined efforts of the central and state governments.
