Assam School Holiday Cancelled: Schools Reopen Today Due to Improved Weather Conditions

Assam Schools Reopen: Taking into consideration the improved weather conditions in Kamrup district, Assam, schools in the region will reopen. Schools in the district will resume normal classes starting today, September 25, 2024, as per the recent order issued by the CM’s Office, Assam. 

Earlier, the state government announced school holidays for government and private schools in Assam until September 27, 2024, while most of the schools were scheduled to reopen on September 30, 2024. With the new order, however, the previous instruction for school holidays has been withdrawn and classes will resume as normal from today. 

Effective immediately, the order dated 23-09-2024 (No. SSA/KAM(M)/TT/Dispatch/2013/40/1662) is revoked, and all Government, Provincialized, and Private schools in Kamrup (M) will resume normal classes starting 25th September 2024, following improved weather conditions.

It must however be noted that the revised school timings from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm will be followed due to the heatwave conditions.

Assam School Holiday Announced

Earlier, the school holiday was ordered by the District Administration after several schools reported children were falling sick or fainting due to the extreme weather conditions. 

The official notification stated that based on the reports received from Heads of Institutions across schools in Kamrup Metro regarding incidents of students fainting due to excessive heat and dehydration and with approval from the District Commissioner, it has been decided that all government, and private schools functioning in the district will remain closed until September 27, 2024.
