CBSE Class 10 Maths Syllabus 2026-27: What's New?

The CBSE Class 10 Mathematics syllabus for the 2026-27 academic session remains largely unchanged from the previous year 2025-26. Students will continue to have the option of choosing between Mathematics Standard (041) and Mathematics Basic (241. Core units such as Number Systems, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration and Statistics & Probability have been retained without any major additions or deletions. While the chapter structure remains the same, CBSE continues to emphasize competency based learning and application oriented problem-solving to strengthen conceptual understanding.

CBSE Class 10 Maths Syllabus 2026–27: Key Highlights

The CBSE Class 10 Mathematics syllabus focuses heavily on building a solid understanding of core math concepts while making sure students can actually apply them. Instead of just memorizing formulas, the updated curriculum leans into critical thinking and practical problem-solving.

  • A Well-Rounded Structure: The curriculum is split into 7 comprehensive units that balance theoretical ideas with practical, everyday applications.

  • Heavy-Hitting Chapters: If you want to maximize your score, pay extra attention to Algebra and Geometry, they hold the highest weightage at 20 marks and 15 marks respectively.

  • The Scoring Breakdown: The final score is out of 100 marks, divided into an 80-mark written board exam and a 20-mark internal assessment.

  • Real-World Questions: Expect to see more questions that test your analytical skills and ask you to solve real-life problems, rather than just standard textbook equations.

  • Tailored Difficulty Levels: The board is continuing its dual-paper approach, offering separate Standard and Basic Mathematics options so students can choose the level of difficulty they are most comfortable with.

  • Continuous Evaluation: There is a renewed emphasis on internal assessments, encouraging students to stay engaged and learn consistently throughout the school year rather than just cramming for the finals.
