The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 2 May 2026 launched a new financing scheme to help countries in Asia and the Pacific develop supply chains for critical minerals used in clean energy, batteries, electric vehicles, and digital technology. This scheme by the ADB will aid Asian countries in building projects and financing infrastructure for the processing, manufacturing and recycling of critical minerals, the ADB said in a statement.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a multilateral development financial institution established on 19 December 1966, with the aim to implement projects to improve quality of life and reduce poverty in the Asia-Pacific region. The headquarters of the ADB is in Manila, Philippines. The ADB offers loans, grants, technical assistance, and equity investments to member countries to manage natural resources, build infrastructure, and improve health and education.
Which countries are the members of the ADB?
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) comprises 69 members, of which 50 are from the Asia and Pacific region and 19 from other regions (referred to as non-regional). From 31 members at the time of establishment in 1966, ADB has expanded to encompass 69 members.
