Punjab Police Constable Recruitment 2026:- In a huge initiative to pull down the organised drug networks and improve state security, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced the recruitment of 10,000 new personnel into the Punjab Police force. The announcement was made during an ‘SHO Milni’ (Station House Officer Interaction) held at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur. Addressing the police officers directly, Chief Minister Mann has also stated that the state is engaged in a decisive campaign against narcotics, titled “Yudh Nashean Virudh”.
Focus on Technology-Driven &Border Security Infrastructure
As per the sources, a central focus of this new recruitment initiative will be on neutralising cross-border tactics along Punjab’s 553-kilometer international border with Pakistan, covering Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Ferozpur, and Fazilka districts. To counter the aerial contraband drops through unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the Punjab Government is integrating high-tech infrastructure alongside manpower additions.
What Will be the Recruitment Timeline?
The hiring of 10,000 personnel into the Punjab Police will follow a structured, multi-stage selection framework to make sure the recruitment is transparent and merit-based.
- Official Notification and Online Application:- The official notification for the recruitment process will be released on the official website. Candidates will have to submit their applications, upload all the necessary documents, and select cadre preference (District Police, Armed Police, or Specialised anti-drone or cyber wings).
- Stage one will be the Computer Based Test (CBT), which will assess the candidates on General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Digital Literacy or computer Knowledge. These topics will be included in Paper I, and Paper II is a mandatory qualifying exam in the Punjabi language (Matriculation standard) where candidates will have to score a minimum of 50% marks to qualify.
- Stage II of the recruitment process will include the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and the Physical Screening Test (PST), which will evaluate the candidates based on their physical fitness.
- Stage III will be document verification and background checks, which will be conducted on the candidates who are shortlisted after the CBT and PST/PMT stages.
- The last stage will be the mandatory health assessment by the state medical board, including mandatory drug screening before the formal enlistment in the force.
