How to Unlock Aadhaar Biometrics Before the Exam?
If you have locked your biometrics for security purposes, you must unlock them at least 24 hours before reporting at your designated SSC CGL exam centre. Given below are the simple steps that can be taken to unlock your Aadhaar biometrics before appearing for the SSC CGL Exam 2026:-
Method 1: Using the mAadhaar Mobile App (Fastest Method)
- First, download the mAadhaar app on your mobile through Google Play or the iOS App Store.
- Open the app and then select your preferred language, such as Hindi, English, Telugu, Kannada, etc.
- Enter the Aadhaar number and agree to the terms and conditions.
- Select your SIM card that is aligned with your Aadhaar card for mobile verification.
- Enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number and complete the face authentication.
- Set a secure 4-digit or 6-digit PIN to log in. Tap on your Aadhaar profile or go to the menu with the three dots or settings icon.
- Select the biometric settings, and then unselect or turn off the Enable Biometric locking option.
- Confirm your choice to unlock and enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number if prompted to complete the process.
Method 2: Using the UIDAI Web portal
- Go to the UIDAI website and log in using your 12-digit Aadhaar Number, type the security captcha code, and click Send OTP.
- Enter the One-Time Password that is sent to the registered mobile number and click on Login.
- Select the Unlock Biometrics service option from your dashboard.
- Enter the security code and captcha, and click the Unlock button to temporarily activate your biometrics (which is valid for 10 minutes or until an authentication occurs.
- If you wish to turn off the locking system completely rather than just unlocking it temporarily, select the Disable option after logging in.

Important Note:- Do not attempt to lock your biometrics again until you complete the entire exam shift.

What to Do if Your Aadhaar Card is lost or Cannot be used on Exam Day?
If your Aadhaar card is damaged, lost, or experiencing any kind of backend database server issues, SSC guidelines allow alternative verification methods to ensure genuine candidates are not disqualified from the exam:-
- Candidates are permitted to carry any one of the original government-issued photo identity proofs, such as a PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Passport, Permanent Driving Licence, Service ID Card.
- Make sure the name and the date of birth printed on the alternative photo ID must match the SSC CGL Admit Card exactly. If there is a mismatch, carry an original Class 10th marksheet or Gazette notification as supporting proof.
- Those who registered via the non-Aadhaar route during the One-Time Registration (OTR) must bring the exact same original photo ID that was uploaded during the online application process, along with one physical copy.
Those candidates who will be appearing for the upcoming shifts of the SSC CGL exam 2026 must check that their Aadhaar biometrics are unlocked before entering the exam centre.
