Through this recruitment drive the commission will fill 12,405 Assistant Teacher vacancies in urban and aided primary schools. UPESSC UP PRT Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria at the time of submitting online application form. Application will not be accepted in case you do not meet the required conditions. Check details below.

1. Educational Qualification-

For Assistant Teacher (Urban) 

Candidates must have a graduation degree from a recognised university in India or an equivalent qualification. In addition they must possess any one of the recognised teacher training qualifications mentioned in the notification such as-

• Basic Teacher Certificate (BTC) including the two year BTC Urdu qualification.

• Special BTC.

• Two year Diploma in Special Education recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India.

• Four year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).

• Two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.)

• They must have passed the teacher eligibility test

Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary)

For the Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary) post in non government aided schools candidates must have 

• A graduation degree from a recognised university or deemed university.

• BTC or D.El.Ed qualification from an NCTE recognised course.

• A valid TET qualification for Classes 1 to 5 conducted by the Uttar Pradesh government or the Government of India

2. Age Limit (As on July 1, 2026)

• The minimum age  to apply for both posts is 21 years.

•  For Assistant Teacher (Urban), the maximum age limit is 40 years. 

• The attached primary post has an upper age limit of 62 years.
