The Delhi Metro is expected to be significantly affected by the anticipated CJP protest on Saturday, October 10. With the national capital already on high alert, the Delhi Metro has taken several precautionary measures to ensure passenger safety.

The Delhi Metro operates across the national capital and extends to parts of neighbouring states, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The applicable rules and restrictions will apply to passengers travelling across the network.

In the latest development, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a notice announcing the closure of entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations across Delhi. The notice states, “Due to security reasons, the entry and exit at the following metro stations will remain closed from 09:00 PM on 9th October, 2026 and continuing on 10th October, 2026 till further notice.”

    Which Items Are Prohibited on Delhi Metro on October 10?

    There are no specific items that have been prohibited for October 10 during the anticipated CJP protests. However, all general rules and restrictions applicable to Delhi Metro passengers will remain in effect 

    1. Dangerous Goods & Weapons

    • Weapons, Arms & Ammunition:

      • Pistols, revolvers, rifles, air guns, BB guns, pellet guns, compressed air guns, starter pistols, and all firearm parts or ammunition.

      • Flare guns, stun guns, shocking devices, gun lighters, and realistic or toy replicas of arms/ammunition.

    • Sharp Objects:

      • Knives or scissors with cutting edges/blades longer than 10cm (4inches).

      • Swords, khukris, meat cleavers, and cleaver-swords.

    • Tools:

      • Axes, hatchets, crowbars, hammers, and saws.

      • Screwdrivers, wrenches, or pliers longer than 17.5cm (7inches).

    • Explosive & Flammable Substances:

      • Gunpowder, dynamite, fireworks, firecrackers, hand grenades, plastic explosives, or realistic replicas of explosives.

      • Petroleum, diesel, kerosene, oil, fuels, spray paints, thinners, turpentine, and inflammable solids.

      • Compressed, liquefied, or dissolved gas cylinders under pressure (LPG, CNG, oxygen).

      • Note: Up to 100 ml of personal toiletries/aerosols (like deodorant or pepper spray) in transparent bags, and one standard safety matchbox or single gas lighter per passenger are permitted.

    • Corrosives, Toxins & Hazardous Chemicals:

      • Acids, alkalis, corrosives, wet spillable car batteries, oxidizing agents, radioactive materials, poisons, and toxic substances.

      • Tear gas, disabling chemicals, and any Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Enhanced Conventional (CBRN) weapons/materials.

    2. Offensive Materials & Biological Items

    • Human & Animal Remains:

      • Human corpses, skeletal remains, body parts, blood (dried, coagulated, or decomposed), or human ashes.

      • Exception: Authorised individuals transporting organs or tissues for transplant pursuant to the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994.

      • Carcasses of dead animals/birds or uncleaned/unbleached bones.

    • Perishables & Bio-Waste:

      • Unsealed raw meat or fish.

      • Manure of any kind, oily rags, decayed animal matter, or decaying vegetable matter.

    3. Communications & Restricted Technology

    • Interference Devices: Portable radio devices or equipment that pose a operational risk to radio communication networks or Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling systems.

    • Unauthorised Tech: Drones/UAVs (unless DGCA registered) and satellite phones (e.g., Iridium/Thuraya, unless explicitly cleared by the Department of Telecommunications).

    4. Alcohol 

    • Alcohol Policy: Up to two sealed bottles of alcohol per passenger are permitted on board. Consumption of alcohol inside metro trains or station premises is strictly prohibited, and open/unsealed bottles are confiscated.
