School Holiday Tomorrow, October 6, 2026: Students and parents are checking whether schools will remain closed on Tuesday, October 6, following the Gandhi Jayanti holiday and the upcoming festive break. There is no nationwide school holiday announced for October 6, 2026. School timings and closures will depend on the respective state education department, local administration and individual school calendars.
The October holiday calendar includes several festival-related breaks, with Dussehra falling on October 20. However, the major Dussehra and Durga Puja school vacations in several states are scheduled to begin later in the month.
School Holiday October 6, 2026: Are Schools Closed Tomorrow?
For most states, October 6 is expected to be a regular school day unless a state government, district administration or individual school has declared a local holiday.
The national holiday calendar does not list October 6 as a central gazetted holiday. The next major Dussehra-related holidays are scheduled for October 18, 19 and 20, while some states have separate autumn or festive breaks.
Therefore, students should not assume that schools will be closed on October 6 simply because of the upcoming Dussehra holidays.
