How to Calculate Percentile for CAT 2021?

As CAT was conducted in different sessions in a single day, the scores of candidates are normalised. The scaled scores are converted to percentile for the shortlisting process. CAT percentile is a relative score that shows the rank as opposed to the rest of the test takers. To calculate the CAT percentile, the scores are normalized.

The parameters on which CAT scores normalization is done are location, sessions, and the difficulty level of different exam papers. All these criteria are equalized while scaling the raw score secured by the candidates.

Calculation of CAT Percentile

A CAT percentile decides the rank of the candidate seeking MBA/PGDM admission in top IIMs and other B-Schools in India. The formula to calculate sectional as well as the overall CAT percentile of each candidate is the same, which is mentioned below -

Formula to Calculate CAT Percentile - P = (R/N) × 100
P= Percentile score
R= Rank of the candidate assigned based on scaled CAT score or the total number of candidates who rank below the respective candidate.
N= Number of candidates who appeared in CAT 2021 (both morning and evening sessions)
