JEE Advanced 2020 Update: Latest reports claim that JEE Advanced 2020 will be held by 12th July 2020. JEE Advanced 2020 is the entrance exam to screen students for admission to IITs and NITs. Keeping in line with the date of JEE Advanced 2020, the start of the new academic year at IITs and NITs will also be pushed to September 2020. Information in this regard was shared by Siddharth Pandey, the organising chairman of JEE Advanced 2020 to Education Times in a recent interview. Pandey also added that the delay in the conduct of JEE Advanced Exam 2020 and IIT Admissions 2020 has been triggered by the postponement of JEE Main 2020 Exam, which screens candidates for JEE Advanced exam.
Delay due to Postponement of JEE Main Exam 2020
According to media reports, the JEE Main Exam 2020, which was scheduled to be held at the start of April, has been delayed drastically due to the national lockdown announced to curb spread of COVID-19 in the country. Following this, the JEE Advanced Exam 2020, which screens and selects students for admission to premier technology institutes of the country i.e. IITs and NITs, has also been delayed, as the Mains Exam serves as a screening test for Advanced.
JEE Main Results 2020 likely by 20th to 22nd June
JEE Advanced Organising Chairman Siddharth Pandey also discussed that in all likelihood, NTA is trying to conclude the JEE Main 2020 Exam latest by 20th to 22nd June 2020. This means that engineering aspirants can expect the JEE Main 2020 results to be declared only after 20th June 2020. Thereafter, JEE Advanced Exam will be held around 12th July 2020 with results expected to be announced within two weeks of the examination. Typically, the top 2.25 lakh rank holders of JEE Main 2020 exam are selected to participate in the JEE Advanced 2020 exam through which admissions are granted to IITs and NITs.
New Academic Session at IITs, NITs to begin in Sept
In line with the delay in JEE Main 2020 Result and the subsequent holding of JEE advanced 2020 exam, the academic session 2020-21 is likely to be postponed as well for IITs and NITs. Although the new academic calendars have not been issued by the institute, looking at the sequence of events, in all likelihood the new academic session will only commence in September 2020 onwards.
