The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announced on Wednesday that it will begin building the 11.56km Metro link between Botanical Garden and Sector 142 Metro station within the next three months. The final approval from the central government is expected soon.
In the upcoming month, the NMRC will finish the topography survey, allowing work to begin at the location. According to Noida Metro officials, soil testing is also being conducted on this route in addition to the topography survey.
Gr. Noida to Delhi Metro Projects
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is working on two key metro expansion projects:
- A 5km Metro link from Noida's Sector 51 to Knowledge Park-5 in Greater Noida West.
- An 11.56km Metro route from Botanical Garden to Sector 142.
For both projects, NMRC has prepared detailed project reports (DPRs), which have been submitted to the central government for final approval.
Gr. Noida to Delhi Current Connectivity Challenge
At present, Noida Metro's 29.7km Aqua Line does not directly connect Greater Noida and Noida to the Delhi Metro network. There is also no smooth access to the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, which enters Noida via Mayur Vihar and terminates at the Electronic City Metro station (Sector 42).
How Delhi Greater Noida Metro Will Help?
The Botanical Garden-Sector 142 Metro link is expected to enhance connectivity in several ways:
- Provide direct Metro access to remote areas of Greater Noida.
- Improve connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.
- Act as a branch of the existing Delhi Metro Blue Line, ensuring a direct link between Greater Noida and Delhi.
"The 11.56km Metro link will provide a direct connection to distant areas of Greater Noida and the upcoming Noida airport. We aim to begin construction as soon as possible. All necessary paperwork is being finalized to ensure immediate progress," said Lokesh M, CEO of the Noida Authority.
Pre-Construction Preparations Underway
Before starting construction, NMRC has initiated a topography survey along the 11.56km route. This survey helps in:
- Identifying latitude and longitude of buildings, houses, markets, and other structures along the route.
- Ensuring proper Metro alignment while considering obstacles.
An NMRC official stated, "A topographical analysis is crucial to finalize the Metro link’s alignment. The survey is expected to be completed soon, as the central government will soon finalize the funding pattern and approve the DPR, allowing construction to begin."

Gr. Noida-Delhi Route
According to the DPR, the new Metro link will have eight stations at the following locations:
- Sector 91 - Panchsheel Balak Inter College
- Sector 96 - Noida's new building
- Sector 97
- Sector 105
- Sector 108
- Sector 93
- Sector 44
- Botanical Garden
Importance of the Botanical Garden Metro Station
Botanical Garden is the first interchange station in the National Capital Region (NCR), connecting:
- Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor (Delhi Metro Magenta Line).
- Blue Line (Noida City Centre to Dwarka Sector 21).
This makes it a crucial link for commuters traveling between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi.
