What is All India Quota and State Quota ?

The All India Quota (AIQ) offers a total nof 15 percent of the seats available in all the government medical colleges in the country. Students from any state can apply for these seats when they qualify for the exam, and there are no domicile restrictions. However, the State Quota comprises the remaining 85 percent of the seats in government colleges (along with a percentage of seats in private colleges, depending on the respective state) which are governed by state authorities and have a certain percentage of seats reserved only for state residents.

The targets in the State Quota counselling Round 2 of Coimbatore Medical College witnessed a major difference in the opening and closing ranks, as there was a massive variation in the ranks awarded in the various categories.
