India is set to establish a new achievement, in the center of Madhya Pradesh. Gwalior, the city of forts, is going to take the central stage at the global level. It is going to top the list in India’s telecom ambition as it will launch Asia’s first telecom manufacturing zone (TMZ).
The project is backed by an investment of Rs 5,500 crore. It is expected that this project will generate over 18,000 direct jobs, pushing employment and a major industrial push.
It is going to be more than just infrastructure as the initiative by the government aims to build a full-fledged telecom manufacturing ecosystem. This places Gwalior in bold letters on the map. The initiative also makes the city a rising technology and production hub.
According to reports and deep analysis, this is also a strategic move to strengthen India’s position and numbers in global telecom manufacturing.
Location and Site Development Of The Telecom Manufacturing Hub In Gwalior
According to reports, the Union Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has inspected the proposed telecom manufacturing zone with other senior telecom officials. The site is at SADA in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
This TMZ spreads across around 170 acres under phase one, having over 90 acres in SADA and more than 70 acres in the IT Park.

Telecom Manufacturing Zone: Expansion and Investment Push
Industrial Ecosystem Plan: The TMZ aims to build a complete ecosystem, under which there will be 24 to 25 telecom units. These units will be producing equipment and components.
The plan is attractive and has strong investor interest, pushing current land capacity and promoting expansion plans.
According to reports, the government may allot more land in the future to back the growing demand and keep up the plan and establish Gwalior as a telecom hub.

Investment Momentum and Job Creation: This project gained its peak momentum after July 2026, after the MoU between the Department of Telecommunications and the MP state government.
All the roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai attracted ₹5,500 crore investments. Delhi commitments reached ₹3,500 crore with 14,000 jobs, while Mumbai added ₹2,000 crore and 4,000 jobs, boosting employment prospects significantly.

Gwalior Telecom Zone: Incentives, Testing Lab, and Infrastructure Upgrade
Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior telecom zone has come with a strong infrastructure and policy upgrade. The government is offering special incentives to support telecom manufacturing. This includes benefits in land, power, jobs, and production. This will also promote eco-friendly and sustainable industrial growth in the nation.
To make this telecom ecosystem even stronger, a common testing lab worth ₹500 crore has been tabled for manufacturing support. Next up is connectivity, Gwalior’s connectivity through highways, railways, and its ₹650 crore upgraded airport adds logistical strength.
This also has a long-term employment structure. The project will cater to 25,000 engineering graduate students entering the workforce at the end of the year. Gwalior, as a city, is well positioned to support the industrial setup with all the facilities.
On the most positive note, the project will strengthen India’s telecom capabilities. Not just that, Gwalior will be elevated in position globally in Asia and will have a green industrial profile.
