J&K Schools To Follow New Timings From October 1; Check Summer, Winter Zone Schedule
The Directorate of School Education Jammu has revised school timings for government and recognised private schools in the Summer and Winter Zones of Jammu Division from October 1, 2026.

The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced revised school timings for all government and recognised private schools up to the Higher Secondary level in the Summer and Winter Zones of Jammu Division. The new schedule will come into effect from October 1, 2026.
According to an order issued by the Director School Education Jammu on September 26, 2026, schools falling under the Summer Zone will operate from 9 AM to 3 PM, while schools in the Winter Zone will function from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The revised timings have been notified after the existing summer schedule, under which schools in the Summer Zone were functioning from 8 AM to 2 PM, was set to remain in force until September 30, 2026.
J&K School Timings From October 1
As per the latest DSEJ order, the revised schedule is:

| Summer Zone | 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM | October 1, 2026 |
| Winter Zone | 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM | October 1, 2026 |
The order applies to all government and private recognised schools up to the Higher Secondary level falling in the respective zones of Jammu Division.

Schools Directed To Follow New Schedule
The Directorate has directed schools to implement the revised timings in letter and spirit. The order states that any deviation from the prescribed schedule will invite action against the concerned institution under the applicable rules.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to senior officials of the School Education Department, divisional and district authorities, Joint Directors of School Education and Chief Education Officers for information and necessary action. The order has also been circulated to the Information Department for wider publicity through print and electronic media.
What Students And Parents Should Know
Students studying in government and recognised private schools in the Jammu Division should take note of the revised timings before the new schedule comes into effect.
Parents and students should also check with their respective schools regarding any school-specific instructions related to reporting, dispersal and transportation arrangements. The revised timings will apply from October 1, 2026, marking the shift from the summer schedule currently in place in the Summer Zone.
