Kerala state government read to conduct SSLC plus two exam in May

With just a week remaining for the second phase of the nationwide lockdown to end various state boards are to confirm their course of action for conducting the remaining state class 10 and 12 board examination. According to reports, the Kerala State Education Department has given a confirmation regarding the same to the high power committee chaired by State Chief Secretary Tom Jose. Reports suggest that the Kerala Education Department has confirmed that it is ready to conduct the SSLC and Plus Two examinations of Kerala Board a week after phase two lockdown is lifted.

It must, however, be noted that the final decision on conducting the examinations will be done based on the situation of the state since no clarity has been given on how the situation is at the moment.

According to a report from the Times of India, one of the officials has stated that the steps to be taken regarding the Kerala state SSLC and Plus Two examinations will be planned based on the fact that the lockdown will be lifted on May 3, 2020, and the situation will be normal thereon. 

The state government has already made a decision regarding class 8 and 9 examinations. As per the decision made, the state will not be conducting class 8 and 9 term-end examinations and instead will promote the students to the next class. 

Kerala University to conduct exams in May 2nd Week

Along with Kerala SSLC and Plus Two examinations, Kerala University has also released a notification stating that the university plans to begin the university examinations in the second week of May 2020. 

According to an official notification available on the website, it is stated that the university can resume the examinations for the different programmes by the second week of May 2020. According to reports, the decision of conducting the examinations was made after a meeting of the examination monitoring committee was conducted which was chaired by the University Vice-Chancellor VP Mahadevan Pillai.

Reports however also suggest that the university examination calendar will not be released before May 3, 2020. It is also reported that the university will wait for the public transport system to spring back to action in the state and permission is granted by the state government to conduct the university examinations. 

Reports earlier had suggested that the Kerala Higher Education Department had asked the universities in the state to conduct the pending examinations from May 11, 2020, onwards. This decision, however, came under the scanned following which the department had to take back the order stating that the universities are free to make a decision on the examination schedule to be followed.
