Assam State Board Merger: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Voswa Sarma has announced the merger of the School Education Board of Assam and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. The boards are being merged to form a unified Assam State School Education Board as per the National Education Policy 2020. The CM also announced that the new board will synchronise school education as per the current needs.
On ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) the Chief Minister stated that SEBA and AHSEC are being merged to form a unified Assam State School Education Board taking education to new heights and in conformity with NEP 2020.

As per the Assam Ministry of Education, in school education, the NEP stresses core values and principles where education must develop not only the cognitive skills like ‘foundation skills’ of literacy and numeracy and ‘higher-order’ skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving but also social and emotional skills referred to as soft skills including cultural awareness and empathy, perseverance and grit, teamwork, leadership communication among other.
Assam Governor Lakshman Acharya has announced RC Jain as the chairman of the Assam State School Education Board and Rukma Gohain Baruah, Chairman, of Assam Higher Secondary Council as the Vice Chairman of the Assam State School Education Board.
