With 11,663 vacancies, millions of banking aspirants compete to clear the first stage of the selection process, i.e., the Preliminary exam. Because the IBPS Clerical cadres are state-based, there are no national cutoff marks. Factors Influencing the IBPS Clerk Prelims Cutoff Marks 2026

There are several factors that influence the determination of the IBPS Clerk Prelims Cutoff marks, like the total number of candidates who appeared in the exam, the number of shifts the exam was conducted in, the normalisation process, total number of vacancies, etc. Given below are the factors which influence the IBPS Clerk Prelims Cutoff Marks 2026:-

  • The total number of vacancies plays an important role in determining the IBPS Clerk Prelims cutoff marks. If a state has fewer vacancies, the cutoff will be high, whereas if the state has a high number of vacancies, the cutoff marks will be low. 
  • The negative marking in the exam also plays a major role in determining the cutoff marks. Every wrong answer will deduct 0.25 marks. 
  • The normalisation process is conducted due to the multiple shifts in which the exam is being conducted. It is to make sure that the candidates receive fair marks depending on the difficulty level of the exam across the shifts.

IBPS will release the cutoff marks for the IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam 2026, along with the release of the scorecard. The scorecard and cutoff marks are released after the IBPS releases the qualifying status of the candidates. Given below are the simple steps that the candidate can follow to check their cutoff marks once released:-

  • Go to the official website of IBPS, i.e., ibps.in
  • Click on the CRP CSA (Customer Service Associate) on the left side of the navigation bar.
  • Select the Common Recruitment Process for the Customer Service Associates (CRP CSA-XVI).
  • Click on the Result Status of Online Preliminary Exam for the CRP-CSA-XVI.
  • Enter the registration number or roll number and password or date of birth.
  • Submit and view your total marks, sectional marks, and the cutoff marks.
  • Keep it for future use.
