Answer: Picture is a powerful medium and speaks a thousand words. Though no formal training is required to become a photographer, yet a professional training will always give you an edge over the amateurs. Similarly,videographers tell a story through a series of recorded, filmed images and hence require a lot of creativity. You can make it as an alternate career or take a full fledged diploma or degree course from a recognised college or university. You can also work simultaneously under a trained photographer/ videographer to know the nitty gritty of the profession. The salary for a fresher starts from Rs 10, 000 to !5, 000 per month. The major institutes offering photography include Pune University, Film and Television Institute of India Pune, Academy of Photography, St. Xavier’s Institute of Communication etc. The fees in the government institutes is low as compared to private institutes.
