NIRF 2026: Key Parameters For Engineering College Evaluation
The NIRF method of evaluating institutions of higher education has five broad parameters.

The Teaching, Learning, & Resources (TLR) segment has a 30% weightage. This assesses students’ strength, faculty-student ratio, faculty qualifications, and financial resources mobilized. The Research and Professional Practice (RP) section also has a weightage of 30% which takes into account publication volume, quality of citations, patents, and research projects taken up. The Graduation Outcomes (GO) accounts for 20% of the evaluation and assesses placement rate, median salary, exam results, and Ph.D. graduations.

The Outreach and Inclusiveness (OI) segment has a weightage of 10% and evaluates geographical diversity, representation of women, economic support to students, and physical accessibility of students.

Perception (PR) makes up the final 10% which is arrived at through a survey carried out among the academicians, employers, and members of public institutions.
