Monday, September 7, 2026, is not a holiday, so regular classes and routine operations will continue in most regions across India. However, local school closures may still apply depending on specific weather conditions, such as severe waterlogging, heavy rain, or landslides in some districts like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, or low-lying zones, where local District Magistrates can declare emergency rain holidays on short notice.
The decisions depend entirely on state government notices, district collector orders, and individual school management. Students and parents should check direct circulars from their school administration or local district authorities before leaving for school.

State-Wise School Closure Updates (September 7, 2026)
Check out the state-wise school closures here:
Uttarakhand School Holiday September 7
Uttarakhand: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of the state. District Magistrates in vulnerable hilly areas like Nainital and Dehradun assess local landslide and road blockage risks to decide on school closures. Parents should monitor local district magistrate orders for confirmed updates.
Delhi-NCR School Holiday September 7
Delhi-NCR: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram. For now no administrative holiday has been declared for the entire National Capital Region. Schools will run as usual unless individual school management or district administrations issue local notices due to severe waterlogging.
Himachal Pradesh School Holiday September 7
In Himachal Pradesh, schools might close because of heavy rain and landslide risks. Local leaders will decide if schools should shut down in their area. If the weather makes it hard for students to go to school, schools may choose to hold classes online instead.
Uttar Pradesh School Holiday September 7
In Uttar Pradesh, many places are expecting heavy rain. The local district leaders will tell you directly if schools need to close because of floods or bad weather. Please watch for official notices from your local district office to know if schools in your area will be open or shut.
Bihar, Jharkhand & West Bengal School Holiday September 7
Schools in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal will stay open. While it will rain and storm in many places, schools are generally running as normal. However, if roads get flooded and it is hard to travel, local officials might decide to close schools in those specific areas.
