Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched the second phase of the statewide school chalo abhiyan from Saharanpur and urged parents to send every child to school. He said education is the strongest base for every education and for the nation because it helps build responsible citizens and opens the path to a better future. He said quality education gives children the confidence to become teachers, doctors, engineers and entrepreneurs. The campaign has been designed to ensure that no child stays away from school in this new academic session and that every eligible student gets access to learning in a safe and supportive environment.
How Uttar Pradesh Changes Its School System
The Chief minster said the state government began school chalo abhiyan in 2017 with a clear goal of improving education for every child without discrimination. At that time only 36 percent of schools under the Basic Education Council met required standards. Many schools did not have proper toilets, drinking water, furniture, electricity, libraries or proper mid day meal systems. To change this situation the government launched Operation Kavakalp and invited public representatives, officials and entrepreneurs to help improve school facilities. The state worked to provide separate toilets for boys and girls, safe drinking water, smart classrooms, digital libraries and free uniform bags and textbooks. It also focused on improving the student teacher ratio. According to the chief minister these efforts helped raise the saturation level of these schools to more than 96 percent within five years.
Stronger Enrollment Drive and Focus on Every Child
Yogi Adityanath said the progress in school education has already shown clear results across the state. Over the last nine years enrollment in Basic education has increased by more than six million students. At the same time the dropout rate has fallen sharply from around 19 to 20 percent to just 3 to 4 percent. He said this change is important because even if one child leaves school it would be a loss for the family, society and even the nation. The second phase of the campaign will now focus on finding out children bringing dropout students back and creating awareness among parents. School management committees, local communities and public representatives will also play an active role. During the launch at CM Model Composite School in Ismailpur village the chief minister distributed textbooks, school bags and stationary to children and honoured the district best performing headmaster. The campaign now aims to connect every child with school and ensure that quality education reaches all.
