SUIIT is known as Sambalpur University Institute of Information Technology was set up in the year 2010 as a self -financing institute of Sambalpur university. It is the first technical university which was set up in a general university after 2002 in Odisha. There are many courses offered by the SUIIT which include courses at both graduate and post graduate levels. In the present scenario, SUIIT currently functions at CCNA building and comprises of well -furnished and spacious class rooms with audio visual equipment’s. The university also includes a vast library with increasing stock of books. The students are also provided access to various digital libraries and the campus has a wide connectivity of Sambalpur University. There are international conferences conducted itself in the campus which proves to be of extreme benefit for the students. Students are encouraged to actively participate in such conferences.
There are facilities which include a well-structured library. For example, computing lab such as networking lab with CISCO equipment, data base lab with oracle and programming lab in collaboration with SUN JAVA are few special infrastructures that are developed by the students of SUIIT. The labs there are well equipped with Sun Fire X2250servers, high configured systems, dedicated 24 x 7 broad band connections and may open source and commercial software. Adding on, the laboratory also includes basic electronics, embedded system and communication labs along with bioinformatics lab for quality teaching and cutting edge research.
The institution is well connected to the all major cities such as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Rourkela via bus and train services. The university includes courses such as Master of Science in computer science, bachelor of technology in computer science and engineering, bachelor of technology in electronics and communication engineering, Master of Science in bioinformatics. Another significant aspect is that of application forms. Students can either download the application form from the official website or they can get in touch with the institution for availability of the same. There is a separate application for each course except for B. Tech program where one application for two branches namely ECE and CSE is allowed with the desired prefrences.
