TISS is popularly known as Tata institute of social sciences was established in the year 1936, and initially it started out as a small institute offering a post graduate diploma in Social work and since then has expanded on a large scale. The institute has tremendously worked on policy, planning, action strategies, and human resource development. There are several areas where the institutions have constantly worked upon ranging from sustainable rural and urban development to education, health, communal harmony, human rights and industrial relations. There are various centers of TISS, for example TISS Mumbai, TISS Tuljapur, TISS Hyderabad, TISS Guwahati. All these centers consists of various schools such as school of social work, school of management, school of development studies, school of habitat studies, school of Media and cultural studies, school of Law, rights, and constitutional governance, school of French studies and many more.
