The Beginning of Customised GPTs

OpenAI made a huge announcement in its November conference that the platform will allow people to build their own AI agents known as GPTs. The company said that these customised GPTs can be developed by OpenAI’s paid Large Language Model (LLM) version, GPT-4. 

This announcement allowed users to design AI companions tailored to their specific needs and desires. With this announcement, OpenAI opened the doors to an assistant that can:

OpenAI in its blog stated: “We’re rolling out custom versions of ChatGPT that you can create for a specific purpose—called GPTs. GPTs are a new way for anyone to create a tailored version of ChatGPT to be more helpful in their daily life, at specific tasks, at work, or at home—and then share that creation with others. For example, GPTs can help you learn the rules to any board game, help teach your kids math, or design stickers.”

The Idea of OpenAI Store 

Following the announcement of custom GPTs, in the same conference, OpenAI announced that it will be launching a store in late November where GPT creators can earn money on the basis of how many people use their customised GPTs. 

OpenAI mentioned: “Starting today, you can create GPTs and share them publicly. Later this month, we’re launching the GPT Store, featuring creations by verified builders. Once in the store, GPTs become searchable and may climb the leaderboards. We will also spotlight the most useful and delightful GPTs we come across in categories like productivity, education, and “just for fun”. In the coming months, you’ll also be able to earn money based on how many people are using your GPT.”

However, the GPT Store's debut encountered a roadblock in November when CEO Sam Altman was unexpectedly removed from his position. However, Altman's reinstatement later that month paved the way for the store's launch to proceed.
