FAIMA Urges NBEMS to Extend Deadline for DNB Final Theory Exam Applications
FAIMS issues a letter to NBEMS urging an extension of deadline to apply for DNB final Theory exams. Exams scheduled to be held from November 19 to 22, 2026.
DNB Final Theory Exam Applications: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has urged the NBEMS to extend the deadline for DNB Final Theory Exam 2026 applications. In the letter addressed to the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences, FAIMA has flagged that medical colleges in several states have not yet concluded their final-year postgraduate exams, and the dates for the announcement of the results have also not been confirmed.
The current deadline for DNB Final Theory exam 2026 applications is October 10, 2026, and as per the letter, this may exclude eligible MD/MS candidates whose final exams/results are still pending in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan & other states.

ЁЯЪи FAIMA URGES NBEMS TO EXTEND DNB FINAL APPLICATION DEADLINE The current deadline of 10 Oct 2026 may exclude eligible MD/MS candidates whose final exams/results are still pending in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan & other states. We request @NBEMS_Official to extend the deadline to the first week of November or allow provisional applications, ensuring no eligible candidate loses an entire examination cycle due to differing university schedules. #FAIMA #NBEMS #DNBFinal

FAIMA has also pointed out that candidates from the 2023 PG batch whose exams will conclude around the same time will be most affected by the current deadline. In the letter, FAIMA has mentioned that since the results will be declared only after October 0, 2026, these candidates cannot apply within the current window even though they will be eligible before the exam dates. The cause is a mismatch between the university examination calendar and the application schedule, FAIMA highlighted. Candidates will risk losing a full examination cycle, which means a delay of several months in their qualification.
NBEMS is scheduled to conduct the DNB Final Theory examination from November 19 to 22, 2026. The DNB Final Theory exam is conducted as a medical exit exam to evaluate and award specialist qualifications to MD, MS, DM and MCh Degree holders.
The final year PG examination and results for students from the aforementioned states are still pending, and as per the guidelines issued by the NBEMS, candidates must complete their mandated PG training and fulfil the specific administrative requirements to appear for the DNB Final theory examination.
FAIMA, in its letter, has mentioned that in Maharashtra the final-year PG Exam will continue until October 22, 2026, and the results will be announced towards the last week of October 2026. In states like Karnataka and Rajasthan, the results are pending and dates for the release of the same have not been issued. The results are unlikely to be declared before October 10, 2026.
