How to Solve Such Questions?

In most of the Bank Probationary Officers’ examinntions the question paper of English, contains five or ten questions relating to phrase substitution. ln such questions, a sentence is given in which a part of the sentence is incorrect, such correct part is to be replaced by the other phrase or part, out of the choices given so that the given sentence becomes gramatically correct. In such sentences, there is some grammatical error like wrong use of verbs in the phrase or some other kind of error. Such error is to be detected and replaced with the correct option.

Remember that there is no ‘shortcut’ of attempting these questions correctly. Rules of various grammatical concepts, notions, include conditional sentences, phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions, prepositions, conjunctions and their proper usage will be of much help in solving such questions correctly. You should also have knowledge of the unenglish and superfluous expressions as well as the rules governing usage of infinitive, gerunds, and participle. You should give particular attention to the various exceptions to the grammatical rules also. The basic point or the main task is to have good comnmand over the various grammatical rules and notions, in order to solve such questions accurately and quickly.
