Shinzo AbeShinzo Abe, the conservative leader of Japan was elected as the prime minister of the country by lower house of the Parliament called the House of Representatives, on 26 December 2012. Shinzo Abe took oath to rebuild Japanese economy as well as mend the coalition with US.

The lower house of the parliament in Japan, which is said to be very powerful, picked 58-year old Shinzo Abe as the new leader of the country. All this came after the loud victory of Liberal Democratic Party which is headed by Abe, in national election earlier in December 2012. The Liberal Democratic Party had won over Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ).

The lawmakers in Japan voted in favour of Abe by 328 votes. Opponent Banri Kaieda, the newly chosen leader of DPJ received merely 57 votes.

As the seventh prime minister of Japan in not even 7 years, Abe replaced Yoshihiko Noda, who belonged to DPJ and whose party suffered deep defeat at the elections. DPJ had come into power in 2009 and it lost on grounds of failing policies as well as mishandling of atomic disaster at Fukushima in 2011.

The cabinet of Yoshihiko Noda resigned as a whole before LDP-powered lower house of the Parliament named Abe as the next Prime Minister.

Abe had initially served as the Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007. He would form the new cabinet in order to rush the extra budget for encouraging flagging economy of the country. Most probably, Abe would choose close associates as well as senior members of the party for crucial posts in the cabinet.

It is expected that Taro Aso, the former prime minister of Japan would be chosen as the deputy of Abe as well as the finance minister. Fumio Kishida would be the foreign minister. He was the state minister of Okinawan affairs in previous tenure of Abe.

Defence ministry might go to Itsunori Onodera. He served as the deputy foreign minister during Abe’s tenure in Japan. Justice Minister of Japan might be Sadakazu Tanigaki.
