About the Holidays
YMA Day / Raja Sankranti (June 15): YMA Day is observed in Mizoram to mark the founding of the Young Mizo Association. Raja Sankranti is a popular three-day harvest festival in Odisha celebrating the Earth Goddess and the arrival of the monsoon.
Moharrum / Muharram (June 25 and 26): Muharram is the Islamic New Year and one of the holiest months in the Muslim calendar. The day of Ashoora marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain at the Battle of Karbala. Different states observe it on slightly different dates based on the moon sighting.
Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti (June 29): This day celebrates the birth of Guru Kabir, one of India's most beloved saint-poets who preached unity, equality, and devotion beyond caste and religion. Observed as a public holiday in Himachal Pradesh.
Remna Ni (June 30): This is a state-specific peace day observed in Mizoram, honouring the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord in 1986.
Even on bank holidays, your UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS, internet banking, and ATM services continue to work without any interruption. Only physical branch visits are affected. Always check with your local bank branch for any last-minute changes.
