Formal Invitation Questions for CBSE Class 12: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released practice questions for Class 12 Formal Invitation. Formal Invitation is a part of the writing section of the CBSE Class 12 English curriculum. Students must know the correct format to craft a formal invitation in the board exams. Each step of your answer will be marked based on the accuracy and adherence to the prescribed format. So, it is crucial that students practise thoroughly to ensure high scores in the exam.

For 3 Mark Question, the format and marking scheme is as follows:

♦ States the purpose of the invitation clearly [0.50  marks]

♦ Uses a formal tone [0.25 marks]

♦ Uses appropriate vocabulary that is relevant to the context and fulfils the word count requirement [0.25 marks]

Award the full allotted marks for each criteria that meets the stated expectations.

Award 0 marks for each criteria that does not meet the stated expectations.

Organisation

♦ Includes  all  components  of  a  formal  invitation:  name(s)  of  the  invitee(s), name(s) of the host(s), occasion, date, time and venue [0.50 marks]

♦ Follows  the correct  format for a formal invitation (date  in expanded form, presentation in third person, salutations) [0.50 marks]

Award the full allotted marks for each criteria that meets the stated expectations.

Award half of the allotted marks for each criteria that needs improvement.

Award 0 marks for each criteria that does not meet the stated expectations.

Language Mechanics

♦ Uses correct grammar, spelling and other language mechanics

Award the full allotted marks if there are only one or two minor errors.

Award half of the allotted marks if there is one major error.

Award 0 marks if there is more than one major error.

For 5 Mark Question, the format and marking scheme is as follows:
