Allahabad State University: Allahabad State University has got its new VC in the name of Prof Sangeeta Srivastava. Prof Sangeeta Srivastava has been the head of the department of Home Science of Allahabad University. Now, she has been appointed as vice-chancellor of Allahabad State University. It is a moment of pride and honour for her as she would be going to head the functions of the university.
Prof Sangeeta Srivastava has taken the charge of VC from Prof Rajendra Prasad. It is interesting to note here that Prof Srivastava is the second woman to get appointed as VC of a university. There has been 10 professor of AU who has been the VC of the university earlier and now Prof Sangeeta has been the new VC. Earlier to that, Prof Swatantra Bala Sharma of AU's Music department has been appointed the VC of Raja Man Singh Tomar Music University which is situated in MP. Also, Jamia Millia Islamia has also a woman VC.
Prof Sangeeta Srivastava is the wife of senior judge Justice Vikram Nath of Allahabad High Court. She was appointed as lecturer in the home science department of AU in 1989. She is a Ph.D. and she has a teaching experience of more than 30 years. Earlier, the department of home science was part of Biochemistry department. In 2002, the home science department was separated from the department of biochemistry. Later on, she served as the head of the Home Science department.
On being appointed VC, Prof Srivastava said, "I believe in teamwork and would strive to take the university to greater heights with the support of the team at the university as well as colleges affiliated to it. Our thrust area would be to uplift the overall image and standard of the university and its constituent colleges for which new skill based courses would be launched and exams would be conducted in a free and fair manner for which additional CCTV's and flying squad teams would be constituted."
