SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2025

The SBI Clerk examination consists of a three-stage selection procedure, i.e., prelims, mains and local language test. The candidates who successfully clear the preliminary examination will be called for the mains examination. The SBI Clerk prelims exam consists of subjects such as the English language, numerical ability and reasoning ability. The prelims exam consists of 100 questions for 100 marks.

The SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2025 is divided into two phases i.e. prelims exam and mains exam. In the SBI Clerk Prelims exam threes subjects will be evaluated such as reasoning ability, numerical ability and English laguage. Candidates must clear both phases to proceed to the Local Language Test. Below is a detailed breakdown of each phase.

SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

The SBI Clerk Prelims examination will be conducted for the duration of 60 minutes and it will contain a total of 100 questions.  The questions will be asked from subjects such as English language, reasoning ability and numerical ability. 

  • Total Duration: 60 min & Total Questions: 100 
  • There shall be negative marking of 0.25 (1/4) marks for each wrong answer. 
  • If a question is left blank, i.e., no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern 2025

The candidates who successfully clear the prelims examination will be called for the online mains examination. Approximately 10 times the number of candidates with respect to announced vacancies will be called for the mains examination. The duration of the online main examination is 2 hours and 40 minutes and the marks obtained in the online main examination only will be considered for preparing the final merit list. The SBI Clerk mains examination will consist of questions such as general awareness, general English, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability and computer aptitude. 

  • Total Duration: 2 hours and 40 minutes & Total Questions: 190.
  • There shall be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. 
  • If a question is left blank, i.e., no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

Note: Candidates who have completed an apprenticeship in SBI on or before November 30, 2024, will be given a weightage in the mains examination by awarding 2.5% of the maximum marks (i.e., 5 marks out of 200 marks) as bonus marks. The bonus marks will be added to the aggregate score of the candidate to arrive at the final aggregate score.

SBI Clerk Local Language Test

The candidates who qualify for selection and produce a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/certificate evidencing having studied the specified opted local language will not be subjected to any language test. In the case of others (qualified for selection), a specified opted local language test will be conducted after provisional selection but before joining. Candidates who fail to qualify for this test will not be offered an appointment. Candidates not found proficient in the specified opted local language would be disqualified.

SBI Clerk Selection Procedure 2025

The marks obtained by candidates in the Preliminary Examination (Phase I) will not be added for the selection and only the aggregate marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase II) will be considered for the preparation of the final merit list. Provisional selection will be made on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the test (Main Examination).
