International Women Day – 8 March
International Women Day was observed across the world on 8 March 2014. United Nation celebrated the 2014 Women day with the theme Equality for Women is Progress for all. International women’s day is also called Working women’s day.
Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.
Each year International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on 8 March. The first International Women's Day was held in 1911.
For the first time International women’s conference was held in Copenhegen in 1911. The day was proposed by Clara, a German.
In some countries International women’s day is an official holiday. All over the world achievements of women are celebrated.
