AP Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned from the CM Post

Kiran Kumar ReddyAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister (CM), Kiran Kumar Reddy resigned from the post on 19 February 2014. He also quitted from the membership of the State Assembly and the Congress Party as a protest to the decision to bifurcate the Andhra Pradesh State.

Kiran Kumar urged the governor to make alternate arrangements at the earliest as he is not likely to continue as caretaker Chief Minister.

The Telangana Bill, splitting Andhra Pradesh and forming Telangana as 29th State was passed by the Lok Sabha on 18 February 2014 with Congress and BJP coming together on the issue. The Bill will be passed in Rajya Sabha on 19 February 2014.
