Ravi Garikipati was on 11 June 2015 appointed as Entrepreneur in Residence of online portal Flipkart.com.
In this position, he will work closely with Flipkart founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal and head of Flipkart’s e-commerce platform Mukesh Bansal on new business projects.
His first assignment will be to grow the online advertising division.
This is the first time such a role is being created in the organisation. Usually, position of Entrepreneur in Residence is created when an organisation brings an accomplished executive to work on a new project or start a new firm and is willing to back him financially.
Before the present appointment, Ravi was president for innovation labs at Silicon Valley-based [24]7 Inc. where he was responsible for overall strategy and development of all products.
He worked also as the Senior Vice President at Vendio, a large third party e-commerce service provider which was later acquired by Alibaba Group Holding Limited.
Flipkart is India’s largest online retailer in the 1 lakh crore rupees e-commerce market and also considered as the most valuable internet company.
