Health Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shabir Khan resigned from the Council of Ministers due to alleged molestation case.

Shabir Khan, the Health Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on 7 February 2014 resigned from the Council of Ministers due to alleged molestation case. The resignation was received by the state’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. The Chief Minister forwarded his resignation to the Governor NN Vohra and was accepted by him.

Shabir Khan is a Congress leader and MLA from Rajouri and his resignation came following allegation of molestation by a lady doctor, who said that the minister called her to his Srinagar based office and attempted to molest her on 28 January 2014.

The case against him has been registered under Section 354 RPC that says assault or criminal force on a woman with the intention to outrage her woman and Section 509 RPC that reads, work/gesture/act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman.
